PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi will appeal for unity at the club in a speech on Tuesday. Kylian Mbappe told PSG in June that he has no intention of signing a contract extension; the French forward’s current term expires in 2024, and PSG believe he must extend or be sold this summer.
Mbappe informed PSG in June that he had no intention of extending his contract, which runs in 2024, which means he might leave for free next summer, which club president Al-Khelaifi is keen to avoid.
The France striker then clarified that he had not asked the club to allow him to move to Real Madrid, who had previously attempted and failed to sign him.
He has until July 31 to commit to staying at PSG until at least the summer of 2025, or he will be sold to the highest bidder the following month.
Tomorrow, Al-Khelaifi will deliver a speech to the entire squad at their new £250 million training facility, emphasising the importance of PSG as an institution and the squad’s full support for new head coach Luis Enrique.
Mbappe returned to PSG training on Monday for the first time since announcing his intention to leave when his contract expires next summer. He had normal medical examinations and will resume full training on Tuesday.
PSG players who represented their country in June did not have to return until Monday.
Neymar is also at the new training facility, where he is working on his rehabilitation from ankle surgery in March. PSG will play a friendly against Le Havre on Friday before heading to Japan for their preseason tour.
